What is in my mind? Thesis, thesis, thesis... Nothing else. So it seems.
I was reading an old publication of ours, Miltä SAMKin opinnäytetyöt näyttävät toisin silmin? (Jaatinen, P: Bachelor's theses seen from a different viewpoint, 2004, abstract in English.)
Just an almost direct citation from the abstract here: In order to ensure the quality of the process of writing a Bachelor's thesis
- requirements set on different types of theses should be described in a better way
- relationship between the choice of topics and the R&D activities of SAMK should be strengthened
- the responsilibities of the supervisors should be clarified
- process of writing a thesis should be divided into separate phases more clearly
- descriptions of requirement levels should be prepared to ensure the transparency
- fairness of assessments and a systematic cross-assessment model should be created
- the differentiation of supervisors' and assessors' roles should also be discussed.
Something is done. Much still needs to be done. As I said in my blog yesterday, one of the challenges is to get non-participative people to participate. More. You do not have to be super-active. But sometimes. Both supervisors' and students. To learn new tricks.
Another challenge is to get me writing the new instructions on writing thesis - so that there would be something to comment on.
